Belated Super Bowl Nails

Hello! I hope everyone's feeling well this week, I'm sick (again). Third time this season.. Blah. So I have lots of time to do my nails, since I'm just laying in bed in between classes. So that's nice! I have my Super Bowl mani to show you today. The boy is a Ravens fan and I'm pretty indifferent (I use the Super Bowl to try out new recipes on my friends). I did really love the colors of the Ravens, so I did a mani using Zoya Yasmeen, Crowstoes Maxxxed Out and the Sephora 18ct gold topcoat. Side note: I can't believe I waited this long to use Yasmeen. It's stunning!!! I'm angry at myself for putting it to the side for so long.

An Apology

Hi all. So I haven't been posting here in a long long time, and I'm sincerely so so sorry about that. The stress of the semester really got to me and then right after, someone dear to me passed away and I got in a blogging funk and just couldn't handle it anymore. So, again, I truly apologize for being so abruptly MIA. I'm trying to get back in the swing of things, I just posted a lot of new polishes on the Etsy store here. And I have a ton of nail pictures to share with you and some TT stuff to catch up on. So here's a little something till I can get back online. Thank you for sticking with me! <3 p="p">

Shimmahhh: Part 2

Here's the rest of my shimmers for you! :] Same deal, pictures first, talk later.

2 coats alone

LtoR: Revlon Velvet Rope, Revlon Runway Pearl, OPI Steady as She Rose, Revlon Royal

2 coats

LtoR: SH Barely Bluebell, Revlon Royal, Revlon Runway Pearl, Joe Fresh Moss

Like the last Shimmer post, these polishes all had an amazing formula. There was so much glitter packed in there! I was amazed. And again, really smooth application, no issues there. I wasn't expecting Rochelle to have a tinted base. This wasn't at all a bad thing, just a surprise.

Shimmer polishes can be found here for $12 a pop :] These polishes were provided to me in exchange for an open and honest review. All thoughts are my own and unbiased.

Secret Copycat TT:]

Heehee, I love this Twinsie Tuesday theme. We did a secret copy cat mani from a random draw, I got Jenn from All That is Gorgeous! I wanted to recreate a recent mani she just did had, from Starry Earth: Lion of Valor :] I loved this mani on Jenn a lot, so I got out 2 of my polishes and tried to do my best to do it justice!

How do you like my take on Jenn's gorgeous mani?? I'd kill for her nail beds, seriously. How perfect are they? Gah. nail bed envy. Is that a thing? It is now. Anyway, this is 2 coats of Zoya Sooki [which was a definite surprise love for me] and Lynnderella Golden Rules. Other than the stars, I think my take on Jenn's mani has the same feel!

P.S. Happy birthday, Tara!! <3 lady="lady" love="love" p="p" you="you">

Serum No. 5 Review!

Hey ladies! Remember my post from yesterday about Serum No. 5 Shrinking Violet? I now have 3 more Serums to share with you today:] Before the pictures, I'll talk about the application: on all 4 of these polishes, the application was really great. Great amount of glitter and all were opaque in 2 coats [except for the glitter topper obviously]. Also, all the polishes were seriously just pretty. Okay, onto the pictures.

Peachy Keen [2 coats]

I love the shimmery base and the big gold glitters in this one. So hard. But it's really the little teeny gold glitters that steal my heart. It doesn't look like it should make much of a difference, but I love how it added an overall sparkliness to the whole polish.

Girl's Gotta Eat [1 coat over Revlon Runway Pearl, China Glaze Starboard, CG Purr-fect Plum, and a Revlon light purple who's name is escaping me completely...]

My favorite combo of this was over Runway Pearl. Whitish polishes with gold glitter are so appealing to me. Also, I love the holographic glitter in here. It makes the polish so interesting!

 Friendly Tiff's [2 coats]

Okay, I won't lie, this wasn't my favorite of the Serums I got. I think the foily base covers the glitter a little too much for me. That said, I like it a lot more IRL. The overall color is really pretty and at an armslength away, it's way prettier.

What do you think of these polishes?? I think my favorite is Girl's Gotta Eat, I fell hard for that stunner. I want to put it over every polish ever. Especially neutrals. GAH!!

Another Guest Post :D

This post comes from Ash from Art Evolve, one of the most talented nail artists I've ever seen!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello dear readers! This is Ashesela from over at Art Evolve. When Sarah asked if any of us Twinsie Tuesday gals would like to do a guest post, I said yes! :D Sarah is a really wonderful person who runs a fabulous blog, and it really is my pleasure to be able to help her while she is away. :D For this manicure I used a base of China Glaze Holly-Day. I took my bottle of China Glaze Twinkle Lights and applied several coats onto a plastic sandwich bag. When it was dry, I cut out shapes and stuck them to my nails, then added a generous amount of top coat to keep the shapes in place and seal them on top of the green.

I love doing this!! It is seriously fun and easy using this technique, and if you haven't tried it before, I heartily suggest it!! :D Thank you so much for letting me do a guest post Sarah, and we look forward to your return!! :D -Ashesela

Nudey!

Happy Fathers' Day:] Hope your celebrations go well today! I actually just got in Girly Bits' Daddy's Little Girl, which would have been great to wear today, but I've been out of my mind busy with my church festival [which you should check out if you're in the area! Lots of good food and I'm working the pastry booth heehee:

Anyway, here's a new favorite nude polish of mine: Fast Track from China Glaze. Disclaimer: it looks better in person than in these pictures, it's a little cleaner looking. 2 coats.

Gold shimmer.. I swear, it gets me every time.

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaack;]

Hello lovelies! I'm back from LA and I've missed everyone! Okay, quick story, I had a dream last night that I was looking for a certain polish I need to franken with and it was out of stock everywhere [even though it's an easy to find polish]. Weird! I guess Basemageddeon is getting to me? I mean, I don't use lacquer base [I've thought about it though.. guess it won't be happening for a while!], I just franken with existing polish + loose glitters. I did order a tiny amount of base recently just to try it out, but anything made with that will probably made for friends/a giveaway or something. Anyway, I'm sure you want to see some polish! I did this look last week and surprisingly loved it! I'm proud of myself, I'm wearing more reds and now browns and working on pinks:] Woo! Here's 1 thick coat of Sally Hansen Bittersweet + 1 coat of Essie As Gold as it Gets.

I'm loving the little red glints in the shimmer here.. What are your personal "out-there" polishes? Mine are red, brown, and pink.. Weird, since I LOVE rocking bright glitters and crazy patterns. Some taupes also intimidate me sometimes, too.

Revlon Copper Penny

Hello! Today I have for you the most interesting metallic I own: Revlon's Copper Penny. Sheba from The Lovely Nail requested I show this one from my giveaway win from MariJo of Polish Obsession. Thank you, MariJo!!<3

Here I have Copper Penny at 2 coats, though you could definitely get away with on careful coat:

I really love this polish a lot more than I thought. It's really interesting and such a unique shade for a metallic! Thanks again, MariJo & thanks Sheba for requesting this one first!!:]

A Red?? Again?!

Yes, it's true! I have on a red! Again! Who am I?! Although it isn't really much of a deviation from my last red. It's actually a dupe! Today I have on LA Girl Rockstar Addict, a wine jelly with crushed gold flakies.... just like Sally Hansen Fireberry Red! Would you look at that? So this isn't so much a normal post, but more of a comparison.

One coat.
Index and ring fingers: LA Girl Addict.
Middle and pinkie fingers: Sally Hansen Fireberry red

Addict is a little lighter in color with bigger, more visible gold flakies.
FbR is deeper, but not as blingy.

So can you guess who won my showdown??

........... Addict!! Because it's just more sparkly, and I'm basically a magpie. I put Addict on right after I took the comparison swatches off, but I totally forgot to take a picture of it before putting something on top. But trust me, it's gorgeous now too:]

Give Me a Price Quote

Hello all! Today I have for you an amazing gift from the sweet Jenn from All That is Gorgeous :] She sent me this and Back Alley Deals as a thank you for guest posting on her blog. Seriously, SO nice <3 Anyway, here I have on 3 coats of GMaPQ. I wasn't too sure about how much I'd like this one, but I really love it! The bar glitter and the yellow-ness threw me off in the bottle, but once I had it on, I definitely changed my mind. Take a look:

yay!! thank you SO much, Jenn! I loooove your thoughtful gift:]

Nicole by OPI: Disco Dolls

Okay, so I really really REALLY didn't want to like any of the Kardashian "Kolors"... but the glitter!!! Gahhhh, okay, I'm just gonna pretend they have nothing to do with the Kardashians. The first one I have for you is Disco Dolls, a warm gold glitter with a little larger rainbow glitter.

also, anyone notice the difference in brushes in this collection? NOPI had those "Perfect Stroke" brushes for a while, then changed it to the skinny brushes, and now it's wide again, but square...
Top to bottom: Holiday 2011, Kardashian 2011, Spring 2011

Weird, right?
