Twinsie Tuesday Canadian's Choice

Hi all! Story time ahead, skip to the pictures if you don't feel like reading this haha. I won't be offended. Anyway, I'm currently writing this post at 6 AM after being awake for about 3 & 1/2 hours now. I woke up at night not feeling well and I couldn't go back to sleep. Then about half an hour later, I smell what I thought was gas, REALLY strongly throughout the whole house and I start freaking out. The carbon monoxide monitor wasn't going off or anything, but I was still really worried, so I open the windows and ask my roommate if she smells it too [she didn't at first, so I thought I was crazy lol], then our other roommate comes in and says "Get dressed and leave right now, I think there's a gas leak". Perfect... So we all hightail it out of there just in case our house decides to blow up and wait for the gas man to come. When he gets here, he discovers that there's a back-up in the furnace and oil's been spilling everywhere because our landlord likes pretending he can fix everything [but really just ended up messing it up]. So. Now, we have no heat and it smells like oil. But the good news is that we're safe! Just pissed off haha.

Okay, on to the polish. This week's TT post is Canadian's Choice, which means that we split up into 2 "teams" and I'm on Team Anne! Anne assigned us a theme for this week: Woodlands. Anne says that Canada is known for beautiful woods and forests, especially in the area she lives in, so I decided to do a little tree mani! Rudimentary nail art ahead:

For this, I used Love & Beauty "Crystal/Light Aqua" as the base [these names couldn't be more boring], Orly Buried Alive for the tree trunk, and Cult Nails Deal with It, OPI Live and Let Die, and Love & Beauty Green [see what I mean?] for the leafy tree part. And this was done with my make shift dotting tool: a straightened out bobby pin!

I can't wait to see the other team's challenge and also how everyone on Team Anne interpreted this!

SoFlaJo's Blue Martini

Happy Friday everyone! Today I have a polish from SoFlaJo's Happy Hour Collection: Blue Martini. She describes BM as: "a jelly filled with multiple sized diamond, short tinsel, and round holo glitters." I did a little layering experiment with this one, as well as show it on its own:] I'll tell you the polishes it's layered over under the individual close ups.

3 coats of Blue Martini

1 coat over Nails Inc Baker St

1 coat over Love and Beauty Green

1 coat over Sally Hansen Crinoline

So I think my favorite way to wear this polish is by itself , though I do think it looks interesting over the green as well!! Formula: really easy to work with, and self-leveled really well, but I wish there were more of those great diamond glitters in it. I shook the bottle a lot, but only got a few out.

Darling Diva Polish Review!

Woooo, happy happy Friday!! This is my day off before working on a 20 page paper this weekend, so I'm probably gonna franken and open shop [fingers crossed], but don't quote me on that ;] I also have a shorter essay to write up, but that shouldn't be too hard. You'll be seeing a little less of me in the next 2 weeks due to finals and papers and projects, but I'll definitely be here at least every other day! Promise haha.

Anyway, I have 5 Darling Diva Polishes to show you today! I like these a lot, they're really glittery and there's a large array of colors to choose from:] Also, you can wear some on their own, and some are more geared towards toppers.

Fire Dragon
Look at the giiiiiiiiiiiiiant black hex!

Some of the polishes dry matte due to the suspending agent, but plus side: easy to make glossy, easy to place glitters, and fast drying:]

Here it is glossy, 3 coats on its own, 1 coat over Cult Nails Iconic, 1 over Essie Bordeaux, 1 over Sally Hansen Red Carpet

Water Dragon

3 on its own, 1 over Nails Inc Baker Street, 1 over Milani Rad Purple, 1 over Essie Lapis of Luxury

Unicorn Bath
This is my favorite!! Ahhhhhhhhhh! It's like Sinful Colors Cinderella, but with glitter.

3 on its own, 1 over Love & Beauty Baby Blue, 1 over Essie Lapis of Luxury, 1 over Brucci Sweet Dreams...Carol [what a weird/creepy name!]

Grand Dragon aka Pendragon now

3 coats on its own, 1 over Revlon Rainforest

Xanadu
Definitely a top coat!

3 coats on its own, 1 over Nails Inc Baker Street, 1 over Essie Bordeaux, 1 over Milani Rad Purple

Okay, now for the talking. I really love these, but especially Unicorn Bath and Fire Dragon. I think I need a better base color for Water Dragon, and I really like Grand Dragon [or Pendragon] over Rainforest. The matte base thing in some of these was a little weird to me at first, but I definitely like it more than I thought.

Some dislikes: some of the glitter was too chunky [see my ring finger in Fire Dragon], so I'm not sure how I feel about that. I wore Fire Dragon as a full mani and I got a giant chunky hex glitter on 2 fingers, and 2 coats of Glitter Tamer kind of spackled it down, but didn't make it smooth. To be honest, I didn't mind it, but if you have an aversion to texture, beware! Also, some of the large hex iridescent glitter completely bled out and was just completely clear [I think in Fire Dragon and Grand Dragon]. Didn't make a difference in the long run, just an observation.

A note about customer service: shipping time was fast, and communication was great:] She offers to make any polish in the shop into a mini also, which I loved when ordering these. Indie minis make my life haha.

Spring Weather Makes Me Happy:D

Hi! It's gorgeous outside!! I'm in love with the weather right now, it's beauuuutiful! So here's a springy mani for you, inspired by the amazing layering idea of Steffels. Seriously, this girl has the most PERFECT nails and pictures and layering ever ever ever. Blogger crush.. Anyway, I wanted to put Lynnderella's Sweets to the Sweet over a light blue, and I'd had Love & Beauty's Sky Blue out already from the All that Glitters layering, so there's 2 coats of SB and 1 coat of SttS, though I think I'll put 2 coats next time.. Or a thicker 1 coat. We'll see haha.

It's the most perfectly springy, pastelly mani I've ever had on, really. It just reminds me of Peeps and Easter eggs:]

Visions of Sugarplums...

Happy Monday, all! How is everyone's day going?? Mine is crazy busy, since it's the second to last day of classes, then I start finals :/ wooo, college. Anyway, I haven't had much of a chance to do my nails lately, but I do have a new Christmas franken to show you today. I've named it Sugarplums,  & this was one that I had in my head for a while before I made it. It came out almost exactly like I pictured:] It was a fairly easy franken, just some Love and Beauty glitters [Blue and Pink... such inventive names :p] with Revlon Royal and possibly some black.

Like it? Is this your kind of polish?? I've been frankening so many glitters recently, I think I need to do a creme or two soon!! & some shimmers, of course;]

First Christmas Mani!!

Hi! I have my very first Christmas-themed nails of the year:] I haven't gotten into the holiday spirit yet, I think it's because I've been pretty sick for a while, on top of crazy school stuff. But yesterday, my housemates & I had a Secret Santa get together, so I had to do festive nails!

my thumb was my favorite, so I had to include it:]

Likey?? I have on 2 coats of Orly Glitz & Glamour, then I sponged on China Glaze Emerald Sparkle, then sponged on Love & Beauty Red [the chunky glitter]. These were a hit with my housemates, but I can't wait to show them [& you all!] my next Christmas mani:]

Last Halloween Franken!: Hocus Pocus

I'm a little sad :[ This is my last franken for this Halloween! But I'm really happy with how they all came out, so it evens out, right?

3 coats, but I could allllllllllllllmost get away with 2.

What I used: Love & Beauty Green, Rust [darker version] & Rust [lighter version] for as the glitter, with a little Milani Red Sparkle, then some dark green that I don't remember, and Wet n' Wild Black Creme.
Close up!!

Bye bye, Halloween frankens! It was fun while it lasted:]

Franken: Voodoo Lady

Now for a not so fail! This franken was super super easy to make, all I did was take Love & Beauty Rust & keep adding little amounts of Wet n Wild Black Creme till it was opaque enough... This is my dupe for China Glaze Fortune Teller:]

This is at 3 coats.

Bottle shot!!
So what do you think?? Close enough to CG's Fortune Teller? :]

Also, I named this franken after this song:
Aaaaaaaaand now I'm dancing haha.

Zombie Flesh Franken!

Hey, guys! Today I have one of my favorite frankens for you:] It's part of my Halloween franken series I'm doing for myself haha. Zombie Flesh is a dirty gray with purple, green, & black glitter; & purple & green hex glitter.
2 coats, if I remember correctly!

I used Love & Beauty's Green, Magenta, & Purple/Black [all glitters], Revlon Smoky Canvas [for the dirtiness of it], Sally Hansen Whirlwind White, and Wet n' Wild Black Creme.

Close up of the glitter!

I really like this one, it's a little bit creepy to me, but in a good way:] I have a few Halloweeny frankens that I can't wait to show here this coming week!!
