TT: Fictional Animal Print Mani

First, I want to start off my saying that my prayers are with all those affected yesterday in Boston. I have many dear friends in the city (who are all safe, thank God), and the news was truly heartbreaking.

Second, and this segue sucks, here's some sparkly stuff for you to look at! So I have 2 different manis, since I couldn't decide which one was less awkward. I LOVE the layering I did for the first one, but then nail art... not my thing, as you'll see. Here's my attempt at making a (holographic and sparkly) dragon:

1 coat Nars Zulu, 1 coat LA Girls Teal Dimension, 1 coat Wet N Wild Emerald The Crown Jewel. See what I mean?! THIS, I can get behind!

This.... nope.

So then I tried doing a unicorn "print" with layering. I had some milky pink jelly (totally blanking on the name, sorry!) and I sandwiched Lacquistry's Chick-a-dee doo-da in between coats of that, then topped it with Lynnderella Bride of Franken.

Trust me on this, it looked way better in person. The iridescent glitter just came out yellow in pictures :/

I Make it Rain Leaves!

Hello all:] I have another beautiful Lacquistry to show you all today, I Make it Rain Leaves. I had some trouble figuring out the best way to rock this collection, but I stumbled on Harvest Moon and decided that it would work best with this polish. I used to stay away from wearing glitter over foils [something about the combination always bothered me for some reason..], but after wearing Glass Houses, I'm warming up to the whole thing. So I put on 2 coats of CG Harvest Moon [which is a PERFECT fall color] and then 1 coat of IMiRL.

I love all the colors in IMiRL, they go together so well! Anyway, I'll be having guest posts and backlogged swatches for the next week-ish, I broke some nails pretty badly this weekend:[ I'm hoping the base coat I'm using will hurry up the process!!

Riveting + Punkins!

Happy October everybody! To kick it off, I have 2 seriously gorgeous polishes to show you that fit in perfectly with this month:] So my first step was to put on 2  coats of China Glaze Riveting from the Hunger Games collection:

This polish is AMAZING. It just glows so perfectly and that shimmer is jaw dropping. I'm sure that you've seen this a million and a half times already, but I figured I'd show it again:] So then, I put on one coat of Lacquistry's Pickin' Punkins' in the Patch:

Jenna's description: "in a clear base I plopped in a myriad of different hued oranges for the punkins’ including matte, metallic, and holo in a burnt orange fine glitter. We even have a bit of varying greens to bring in the beautiful vines and leaves of the pumpkin plant. The predominant size in this polish is a mini-hex, so it will work well on little fingers as well!"

This polish was a dream to apply, not too thick at ALL. I know that thickness has been somewhat of a problem with Lacquistry in the past [I personally didn't have too much of a problem]. But that seems to have been completely taken care of, the formula is great and a lot easier to work with. I love all that orange in there and the little hints of green really remind me of a pumpkin:] I thought this mani was perfect to ring in the month of Halloween and fall and changing leaves and pumpkins!

Falling for Fall Polishes

So.. I think I went a little overboard on these;] The lovely Ash from Art Evolve got together a little group of girls to show their favorite summer to fall transition polishes. And basically what happened last night is that I started swatching and I just couldn't stop! So you get a ton of pictures today..

KBShimmer No Whine Left: I love the vampy base with the sparkly blue glitters, it really combines summer and fall for me.

Orly Emberstone: This orange is amazing! And the touch of coral makes it perfect for this time of year. Also, look at that shimmer!!

Zoya Toni: So Oxblood is the big color this season and this is a little bit of oxblood, a little bit of purple. It's one of my new favorites, I love it so hard.

NOPI For Gold Time's Sake: The 3 shimmering polishes in this collection are so so pretty. The color shifting shimmer is just ridiculous! And I love the olive-y base color too.

OPI Ski Teal We Drop: This was the polish that got me in to nail polish & blogs!! Clearly it's in a special place in my heart. Also, it's just flat out pretty.

China Glaze Exotic Encounters: I think this color is so great for transitioning from summer to fall. It's bright, but a little dutsy, and on the greener side of teal.

BB Couture Busty Bombshell: Olive green shimmer with that signature BB Couture micro glitter? Yes PLEASE. Love.

Alta Costura Vernis Tigress: This is a fun and happy orange, but the mix of black glitters in there also really works for Halloween!

Essie Cocktail Bling: I really like this polish, it makes me feel so calm and cozy :] Great for the incoming chill in the air!

Orly Smolder: I'm already predicting that this will be my most worn fall polish this year. I couldn't stop staring at it when I swatched it!! It literally GLOWS. I'm almost positive I'll be wearing this during Thanksgiving. And probably every other week. Gah!!!

Nostalgic Lacquer Date at Midnight with Nosferatu: The name is kind of dumb and long, but the polish is really great. I love the shade of those magenta glitters in there,  and combined with the grey jelly base, it's like a sneaky glam.

Joe Fresh Moss with Dollish Polish Urban Camo: YESYESYES. I can't even begin to tell you how much I LOOOOVE Urban Camo and I think Moss is the perfect underwear polish. Just.. Neon green, gold, white, & black glitter perfection. I can't even. I need to wear this again now. I was actually upset I had to take this off.

KBShimmer Witch Way?: This is like a purple holo version of Essie SSN. So it's better in my book. It just looks like space to me, if space were purple. [Sidenote, I read somewhere that space tastes like raspberries. I seriously want to taste space so bad right now.]

Lacquistry Leaf Piles Make Me Smile: If Smolder is gonna be my Thanksgiving mani, this would definitely be a close second. Such a pretty shimmery base, and the whole feel of this is really autumnal.

Pahlish Ace of Fours: This took a little more loving to get on the nail [about 3 heavier coats], but I think it's worth it. There's a shimmer in there that, added to those teeny shard glitters, make this whole polish twinkle, like snow.

Essie Bobbing for Baubles: Dark blue-grey perfection. I always feel stylish when I'm wearing this.

China Glaze It's Alive: This is the most perfect Halloween polish basically ever. I love how this looks on me, but also, it's so well executed. Amazing formula and so. packed. with glitter.

Cult Nails Spontaneous: A greyed-purple with seriously gorgeous purple tiny glitters. The addition of glitter definitely makes it unique, and the shade really says fall to me.

So there you have it! My top 18 picks for fall. I can't wait to wear the crap out of these polishes, they make me so ridiculously happy. But seriously, go right now and get Smolder and Urban Camo and It's Alive and Emberstone. You'll be a happier polish-er;] Which of these was your favorite??

My Scarlet Knights Mani!

Today is the first home football game of the season here at Rutgers! So you know where I'll be:] This is my last football season here [senior year.. terrifying!], so I'm determined to get to all the games I can. This mani is definitely special to me. I'm so happy with it! I ordered a bunch of customs from Lacquistry a little while ago and Jenna was absolutely AMAZING with the creations she whipped up! I asked her for a red, black, and gold glitter polish for my school's colors and named after RU's mascot, the Scarlet Knight. And ladies? It's gorgeous. Really stunning. I put one coat over Revlon Velvet Rope here. This is also the mani I wore on my first day of senior year!

The only bad thing about this mani... the bubbles:[ My Glitter Tamer is quickly becoming unusable. Anyone have any replacement suggestions??:]

Meadowlark: a Lacquistry Custom

What a week it has been in Nail World!! I explained some of the drama to my sister last night, she said it should be a TV show. If you're not up to date, here's a good post about it from The Crumpet: http://thecrumpet.blogspot.com/2012/06/lynnderella-rockafeller-week-that.html

So today I want to show you a custom polish from one of the nicest indie-polish makers out there, Lacquistry. I ordered the most amazingggg customs from her, and I can't wait to show you all! The first one I have is Meadowlark. I told Jenna I wanted a yellow, glittery, summery, fun polish and she definitely delivered.

Look at all that pretty! and that's just 2 coats:D Ugh, so happy with this, thank you Jenna!! <3

What does everyone think? Yellow and glitter isn't the most normal combination, but I just had to haha.

Twinsie Tuesday: My Favorite Polish [REALLY picture heavy]

Okay, this was a surprisingly easy TT post for me, because I've been thinking about it for a looong time:] I've also had these pictures of this mani for like 2 months now, saving them for this post! So clearly, I'm very excited about it. Here's 3 amazing, gorgeous, jaw dropping coats of Lacquistry's Lake Placid on Acid, my absolute favorite polish:

Sorry, I could NOT narrow down the pictures of this polish! I'm actually infatuated with it.. I wore it for like 4 days straight, I think! Blue and green and glitter bomb?! YES!!!! I'm drooling just looking at it again... I need to wear this again. Like now.

Oh, and look at the other Twinsie's favorites! I can't wait to see them!:]
