Last Halloween Franken!: Hocus Pocus

I'm a little sad :[ This is my last franken for this Halloween! But I'm really happy with how they all came out, so it evens out, right?

3 coats, but I could allllllllllllllmost get away with 2.

What I used: Love & Beauty Green, Rust [darker version] & Rust [lighter version] for as the glitter, with a little Milani Red Sparkle, then some dark green that I don't remember, and Wet n' Wild Black Creme.
Close up!!

Bye bye, Halloween frankens! It was fun while it lasted:]

Candy Corn & Spiderwebs

Ready for some [super amateur] nail art? So I did my housemate's nails a few days ago, she wanted candy corn nails. Well, she let me be a creeper & take pictures of her hand so I could show you guys!

I used Sally Hansen White On for the white, NYC Spring Street for the orange, and Sally Hansen Lightening for the yellow. Then I topped them off with the glow in the dark polish from Fantasy Makers!

Now my nails:
I used a base of Revlon Aloof, then stamped the spiderwebs in Wet n' Wild Black Creme & the orange spiders in NYC Spring Street, & topped it all off with that same glow in the dark polish.

Little better than those decals, right? haha

Franken: Voodoo Lady

Now for a not so fail! This franken was super super easy to make, all I did was take Love & Beauty Rust & keep adding little amounts of Wet n Wild Black Creme till it was opaque enough... This is my dupe for China Glaze Fortune Teller:]

This is at 3 coats.

Bottle shot!!
So what do you think?? Close enough to CG's Fortune Teller? :]

Also, I named this franken after this song:
Aaaaaaaaand now I'm dancing haha.

2 Halloween Fails :[

Hi everyone! So I've been trying to do Halloween themed manis this week & some came out better than others hahaha.. Here's some fails for your viewing pleasure:
This was my base of 1 coat NOPI Traffic Cone & 2 coats Creepy Pumpkin. I actually liked this layering combo a lot, I should have left it :/

Then I put on the Jellies decals I got from Rite Aid... mistake! They would NOT stay down with me, even after sooo much top coat. The design was really cute, but the decals kept falling off [I woke up with one in my hair & one on the bottom of my foot.. welp!]

Then, I tried to do the bloody fingerprint mani that I saw here! Except I tried to do the finger prints in City Color Dark Red & it came out too pink:[ (the base color is Revlon Aloof, btw)

Can't win them all, right? It's okay, I'll be posting some not so fails later today & throughout the weekend:]

Franken: This is Halloween

Hi, everyone! I'm super excited to show this fraken today, I think it's so Halloweeny:] Hence the name This is Halloween! I started with a base of Sinful Colors All About You & added this burnt orange glitter I got from ebay, Red Rose & Black glitter from Art Institute Glitter, then Sinful Colors Call You Later for some contrast with the green glitter:] Okay, less talking, more pictures!

Blurred to show the sparkliness.

This is 2 coats of polish with like 4 coats of top coat... it kept sucking the top coat up!!
So what do you think?? Halloweeny enough?:]

Phantom + Cauldron Drippings

Hi! I have another Halloween mani for you today:] I finally found some Fright Night Claw polishes yesterday at Target [side note, my Rite Aid FINALLY put out the pumpkin polishes today]. So I had to put it on, clearly.
It's a really pretty shimmery gray.. There's these like flecks of pink & blue in there.

Then, I added Lynnderella's Cauldron Drippings. This polish is insane, with green, purple, blue, black, white, gold, & then a LOT of orange glitter in so many shapes & sizes.. Insane & gorgeous & Halloween in a bottle.

& because I can't leave anything alone, I stamped [with Wet n' Wild Black] a spiderweb on my tips. It didn't look bad, but it wasn't very noticeable.. Oh well.

Hmm. I need to try this stamp over something else..

Hauling: a lesson in having no self control

...oops?? :] My hauls from Target & Five Below!

Everything all together:

Essie[L-R]: Bobbing for Baubles [mini], Broach the Subject, Bangle Jangle
This completes the Cocktail Bling Collection for me.. an unexpected hit on my end!

Nicole by OPI[L-R]: Glitter in My Stocking, My Sleigh's in the Shop, Snowman of My Dreams, Ornament for Each Other

Funky Fingers[L-R]: Teal Scales, Power Chord [possible SH Purple Gala dupe?], Stage Dive[for frankening], Sound Check
Fresh Paint: Jazz Hands

I couldn't resist!! It was too pretty.... stupid crackles, always drawing me back in.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects in: Winter Funderland & Snow Bunny

Fright Night Claw Polish [!!!!!!!]: the grey one is Phantom, the red is Voodoo, & the blacks are Sinister. Found in the Halloween section in Target

Also, this scarf for $3... I love scarves:]

Yeah... I'm bad news bears today. Should I have gotten this? No... but it made me feel better after studying really hard!

Taking a break from studying to bring youuu..

Layla Magneffect Blue Grey Flow!! this is what I had on all weekend, since I knew I wouldn't have time to change my nails :] It's so mesmerizing...

To save the polish, I put on one coat of KleanColor Neon Sapphire & then one coat of BGF:]

It came out a little darker than I thought it would [maybe from the layering??]

Anyway, I loved this mani so much, I even got a bunch of compliments [& questions!] about it:] The only downside was how long you have to wait to put on a topcoat, or else it drags the metallic particles around, as I learned to my sadness..

Zombie Flesh Franken!

Hey, guys! Today I have one of my favorite frankens for you:] It's part of my Halloween franken series I'm doing for myself haha. Zombie Flesh is a dirty gray with purple, green, & black glitter; & purple & green hex glitter.
2 coats, if I remember correctly!

I used Love & Beauty's Green, Magenta, & Purple/Black [all glitters], Revlon Smoky Canvas [for the dirtiness of it], Sally Hansen Whirlwind White, and Wet n' Wild Black Creme.

Close up of the glitter!

I really like this one, it's a little bit creepy to me, but in a good way:] I have a few Halloweeny frankens that I can't wait to show here this coming week!!

SH Gray by Gray Layering!

Gah, sorry it's taking me a while to respond to comments! I had 2 back-to-back exams this morning, blehhh. But now they're done! & I can  paint my nails, so all's right with the world again;]

I had on Sally Hansen's Gray by Gray for my exams. This is one of my favorite colors, I bought it when I was just really starting to get into nail polish [the first one was OPI's Ski Teal You Drop]. It's a perfect 2 coats to bluey-gray perfection [slate? is that it? haha]

I need to say, I really like the SH brushes.. I know not everyone's a fan, but I am!! :]
Then today in my break between classes, I added on 2 coats of Milani's Totally Cool. It turned it into this kind of dusty purple with this pinkish, goldish flaky shimmer in the shade, but in direct light, the dustiness really comes out & I'm in love.

I'm writing this post from class [shh, don't tell!!] & I keep staring at it. PS sorry for the lack of clean up! I had to run out to get to class on time:/

Franken! Cry Me a River

Hi! So this is a franken I made maybe a yearish ago..? I made it for Steph from Imperfectly Painted, after her inspiration for an RBL color [see post about that here!]. She named it Neptune's Pool & I named mine Cry Me a River! I like that they have something to do with bodies of water haha. Anyway, I'm really grateful for Steph for being supportive as I'm starting out my blog, so I decided to pull this out of my franken basket [I'll have to show that on here one day, haha]!

This is 3 coats of my franken!
It's not this transparent in real life, I promise. It actually comes out opaque.
Close up of the bottle!

I put in a lot of Nubar 2010, CND Jade Sparkle, and some blues that I had around... Maybe Revlon Royal? I loved Steph's idea so much, I even tried making an olive-y green version, haha. Maybe I'll show that next!

Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow Suede

So I had such a nail fail last night.. I didn't know what to put on: Orly's Emberstone or Milani's Totally Cool? I decided on TC [went with my outfit more haha]. It took 4 coats of polish for it to build up, & I guess I didn't have enough time to let it dry completely :[ So on my way to class, I got all these lovely scrapes & gashes. Ugh. So to make sure that it didn't happen before I went to class today, I put on OPI's Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow Suede, since I knew it would dry really fast!

Love how easy this was to put on & go!
What's your favorite on-the-go polish when you just need to slap something on??

Quick Updated NOTD

So even though I think crackles are completely done, I had this weird feeling like I NEEDED to put crackle on top of my franken mani from last night... I know, black crackle over red has been done a million & a half times, but I don't know, it was calling to me haha.

here's one coat of Icing's black crackle [blanking on the name right now] over my nameless franken:
I like Icing's version because of the huge cracks it makes, it makes the base color show through a lot, which I like more than its counterparts.

My picks from Orly's Mineral FX Collection

So I only picked up 4 of Orly's Mineral FX Fall 2011 Collection. Rock the World didn't seem much like my kind of polish, & Rococo A-Go-Go looked too similar to Zoya Valerie [which I have already]. So here are my picks!

Emberstone: 2 coats
Emberstone is insanely gorgeous. It looks more coral in the bottle, but pulls really orange on me with this corally/red fleck.

Rock Solid: 2 coats
Rock Solid is a gunmetal shimmer with lots of holo glitter packed in there.

Rock-It: 3 coats for pictures, but I got away with 2 in real life.
Rock-It is a purple-y magenta with a gold douchrome in the bottle, but on the nail, it translates more as insane sparkle!

& Stone Cold: 2 coats
Stone Cold is an electric blue jam packed with flecked glitter. It's so so eye-catching & beautiful.

Application on all of these was pretty good, 2 coats & you're done! It did take a little to get Stone Cold & Rock Solid off my nails due to all that glitter, but I think it's worth it.

Thanks for reading!! :]

Introduction!

Hi! My name is Sarah & I'm a polish-aholic:] I decided to start my very own nail polish blog after over a year of reading others, & I was inspired! So this is my place to share my love of polish & frankening with whoever would be gracious enough to read it. I'm super excited about this, so let's get started!!

I wanted to choose a nail polish that was really ME, but I couldn't pick just one! So, I decided to show some layering ;]
This is one coat of KleanColor Neon Sapphire, one coat of OPI Last Friday Night, & one coat of KleanColor Blue Eyed Girl [<3 this polish so much].

BEG has these huuuuuuge hex glitters that are so reflective, I love it.

So now, just for fun, I have a franken I made recently! I have no idea what to name it, so suggestions are so welcome:] When I mix polishes, I never write anything down, so this is all approximate, sorry :/
Recipe: 1/3 Love & Beauty Red [the glitter one]
1/4 Love & Beauty Rust [glitter again]
1/3 Miss No Clermont Crimson
1/4 Essie Jelly Apple

It's super reflective IRL.

So thank you for reading my little nail blog! I'm so excited to get started:]
